Why I have a coach!
This might seem somewhat strange, but even though I am a personal trainer myself I have a coach. There are a number of reasons why I decided to get a coach, most of these also apply to people who don’t work in the health and fitness industry.
1. Outsourcing the programming
As a coach I am constantly thinking about my clients and how to motivite and progress them to ultimately help them achieve their goals. This leaves very little time to focus on my own programming. Therefore, time saving is a massive reason why I got a coach. Outsourcing my own programming to someone else leaves more time for me to concentrate on my clients.
Even though I am very committed to my health and fitness goals I too benefit from being held accountable (who doesn’t). It is really helpful to know that your trainer will ask you how the week went – if there were any difficulties with your training etc. at the very least you want to be able to give feedback.
3. There is always someone out there who knows more than you
This is something I am really passionate about! I love learning from people who know more than me, and fact is that there will always be someone who knows more than me. And if you are not from the health and fitness industry than getting a trainer is super helpful because he or she can help you perfect technique. A coach will tell you which cogs to turn in oder to get you to where you want to be.
4. Developing a specific skill
If you want to learn how to do a handstand, deadlift, pull-up or press up a trainer can help you develop that certain skill. Maybe you have already been training for a few years but now want to learn something specific or are setting yourself a new challenge.
These are only some of the reasons why I decided to get a coach, there are many more reasons out there. I see investing in a trainer as an investment in myself, in my health and wellbeing.
